Finding a photographer, or should I say, the right photographer is a long and lengthy and very personal process.
As a couple, you need to decide on the style of photographs you want and how much of the wedding budget you want to spend on your memories.
As far as I am concerned, the wedding photographer should be one of the biggest expenses on your wedding list, after all, this is the way you are able to remember and visualize your wedding day.
A few pointers
- what style of photograph do you want
- what is your photographer willing to give you in his/her package
- will they bring an assistant and will they be there from when you wake up until the bitter end
- will the photographer be able to capture both the bride and groom's getting ready moments
- make sure that you are able to laugh and joke and get along with the photographer
- shop around and don't take the first offer of a package deal (bargain)
- just because you know someone who used them and their photo's look great, doesn't mean that they will work for you
- does your photographer make back ups on the big day
- do you want an engagement and trash the dress shoot
- make sure that every detail of your day will be covered, from your shoes to the table decor to your guests
- discuss the style of photographs you would like with your photographer and listen to their suggestions
For my wedding I am using the wonderfully talented Nikolai from Nikolai P Photography http://www.nikolai.co.za/website.htm
